Ah.... Reisse's, what a place to eat and drink. Think I'll try for an afternoon game at Wrigley followed by an El ride over to Reisse's (getting there early before the dinner crowd) have me some brats with mustard, that fantastic sauerkraut & potato salad, then wash it all down with five or six Weisse Beirs. As long as I can stumble back to the Ravenswood El I'll be fine for getting back to my hotel.

Thanks! I'll need a good workout program when I get back home!

The Fish Keg, 2233 W. Howard, 773-262-6603

Great fried stuff to go, even better than Hagens, and worth the trip from your abode.

Now you guys have me wondering....

Here are some of my favorite dumps as a kid. I'm not saying they were great food, but some of it was good, and I have many fond memories from each location. Are they still there or gone?

Hot Dogs:
Jimmy's: Grand & Pulaski
Elfman's: Kedzie & Addison

Beefs:
Mitchell's: North & Kimball
Luke's: Harlem & Addison

Pizza:
Father & Sons: Milwaukee & Sacramento

Fried Fish:
Joe's: Elston & Cortland

I'll be on an extended visit for first time in a long time. Other times it's been fly in/fly out, with no time to see the city. It will be business so I'll get my share of Loop & North Side restaurants. But when no one is around I'll want to sneak out to the neighborhoods for some grease. Any North or Northwest side alternatives to the dumps I've mentioned would be appreciated.

Thx in advance!
