For being in a tourist zone near the ballpark, it's a good bar. The owner and his family all work (and live) there, and are easy to get to know. Food isn't bad either...some may call it gourmet bar food....and it is a little steep on the price....but good quality. They do make a little heavy use of chopped parsley as a "garnish" though. They have a couple of sandwiches with Irish Bacon that are pretty good. If you don't mind being around the suburban "let's go to Clark St. and hang out at the Cubby Bear" crowd, it's not bad. It's a much different bar on the Weeknights (sun-thurs) compared to Friday and Saturday. Irish Oak -- Opinions?

Hmmm, make that "non-game weeknights." The bar has been crowded on Wednesday nights too, when I've been to see the (very overcrowded) trad session. I like the Oak and their Irish breakfast. Some of their food is a bit pricey. They pour an excellent pint there. I'd prefer an Irish pub where more patrons drank Guinness than Miller Lite, and where you could have a conversation without yelling -- hard to do if you're not at one of a few tables on a night when it's not jammed with the aforementioned Miller Lite Party Hardy crew. I never understood it. People who like to guzzle Miller Lite and talk real loud have easily a hundred other choices than the place that pours my favorite pint in the neighborhood, the place made up to look like the cozy Irish pub I yearn for. Why can't they go to another bar for that and leave me to the pub? Oh well. At least they're having fun...
