My wife and I are very fond of the Greek Islands. It's not as "tourist" as the Parthaenon. Enjoy!

I just enjoyed Costa's on Saturday night. First, it was empty. I expected at least a minor rush after the A&W Show, but none appeared. We ate a leisurely dinner from 5 until about 7 and there were /maybe/ six other tables occupied when we left. Second. it's more like a restaurant than a Greektown restaurant. They downplay the OPAAAAAAAH! and there's no drunken line-dancing when everybody get's hammered. Though the Muzak was a little loud, it was still quiet enough for easy conversation over the table. Third, they have an above average presentation. The food was above average Greektown fare- well prepared and presented on nice colorful place settings; no cafeteria plates and diner-style coffee mugs. Fourth, as is common in GT, the food is there almost before you order it. The service was good, with no ordering pressure. When we did order it was chop-chop. The only time we had to wait was for the check. Evidently it is owned by the same people as La Plaka (and the one before that?) but they have completly rehabbed. The piano riser now sports a large head table and the bar is a lot nicer (as are the bathrooms). Overall it is above average Greek food, served in a more restaurant-like setting. Most of the time I prefer the loud, drunken-barn-dance atmosphere of GT, but this is a place you can take the in-laws and not be embarrased by the frat party going on at the next table. Food 2/4 (3/4 for GT) Atmosphere 3/4 Service 3/4 (4/4 for GT) trent Costa's 340 S. Halsted (312) 263-9700
