Chicago, not surprisingly, has a huge number and variety of good ethnic restaurants. I am not from Chicago myself (I'm from nearby Milwaukee), so I am not too familiar with them. I do, however, want to reccomend to you (and to everyone else) what is, perhaps, my favorite restaurant in North America-- Hatsuhana. Hatsuhana is a Japanese restaurant located on Ontario, just off of Michican Avenue. (Just a few blocks from the historic water tower. . . ) This place is fantastic. I have never had better Japanese food in my entire life. (I have not, admittedly, been in Japan.) The sushi is spectacular, the grilled foods are exquisite, the various soups and appetizers are incomparable. (I could go on, but I think I've made my point.) The service, by the way, is impeccable. Some words of warning: the place is kind of expensive (though it is not overly big or fancy) and it does close down between lunch and dinner. Reservations are probably not necessary, but it never hurts to do so anyway Incidentally, Hatsuhana also has three other restaurants-- in New York, Honolulu, and Tokyo. I don't know about the Honolulu one, but I have heard that the New York and Tokyo restaurants are equally as wonderful. Go there, go there, go there-- I can't reccomend this place enough! -- Jim Chokey
