it's dubbed on directv as well. listening to those chefs screaming was the best part.

i went to yokohama last night (in westmont). uh...it's not that good. i decided to go because one guy posted that place yesterday and the place is near my house. i'll try one of the nicer chicago places next time.

a few things...

1) their sushi prices seemed fair ($2.50 or so) until i realized that it's per piece...not per order. usually sushi places serve nigiri sushi per order (2 pieces). prices are still okay if the sushi is very good and the place is posh...but this place definitely is not posh.

2) uni was good though. it's usually hard to find good uni and theirs was fresh.

3) rolls are not that good. everyone knows that the most important thing about nigiri is the rice. the rice was a bit hard and too dry.

4) in the end, i ate a pretty good amount. total bill was around $55. i ate sushi, a few rolls, and a miso soup (they also charge $1.00 for miso soup which kinda sucks). i did not drink any alcohol.

overall...for the price, it wasn't worth it. i'd give this place a 4/10 for neighborhood sushi and a 1/10 overall when compared to "good" sushi.

thanks for the suggestion...

Edoya on Algonquin Road, just off of Arlington Heights Road in Arlington Heights is quite good. It's a little north of the western suburbs but it's right off the Arl. Hts Road exit of the Kennedy.

Matsuwa - the great Japanese food/everything else superstore is right next door. They have several food kiosks right in the store. Good udon noodles.

Went there once last summer. It was pretty good food, fairly priced. Nice decor and decent service, as well.

More recently, I've been to Katsu (2651 W. Peterson in the city) and had wonderful sushi in a very nice atmosphere. They're on the pricey side, though.
