the *best* fish fry i've ever had (and i'm from Wisconson..) is at the Duke of Perth. It's a Scottish restaurant/pub, located on Clark street, by the Century Mall, near Clark/Belmont. Also, the same people that run Duke of Perth opened up the Earl of Lockness, a little farther south on Clark St at Fullerton. Same menu and food. they have an excellent selection of imported UK ales and malts, and serve malt vinegar with the fish and chips. it's all you can eat Friday and Wednesday(or some day during the week), and not all you can eat on other days. check it out!! And I don't care what day the Friday fish-fry is on!

I've been there a couple of times. The fish is good, but not great, IMHO. The fries are good, the peas are frozen. I agree that there is a fine selection of ale, and single malt scotch as I recall. > Also, the same people that run Duke of Perth > opened up the Earl of Lockness, a little farther south on Clark St at > Fullerton. That's interesting. Must be new - I haven't seen it. > Same menu and food. they have an excellent selection of > imported UK ales and malts, and serve malt vinegar with the fish and > chips. Malt vinegar is the only way to go! >it's all you can eat Friday and Wednesday(or some day during the > week), and not all you can eat on other days. But the portions on the other days are satisfactory.
If you are looking for a Friday all you can eat fish place in the western burbs, try Off Broadway Pub in Brookfield. It's at 9048 Monroe Av. Not only do they have some pretty good fish on Friday but most everything else I've had from their menu was good. It's all standard pub fare but it's a nice quaint little neighborhood place. They have a decent selection of beers and it's a lively fun place on a Friday evening. Thanks. Not in the Western burbs, but the BEST (and worth the trip) fish fry/Fri. is at the Village Tavern in Long Grove... about 45 min/1 hr. drive from the Western burbs.
