I usually prefer Torrefazione Italia on Lincoln, but there are likely others. Very servicable espresso can be had at any Starbucks, which are practically unavoidable. >What restaurant is not to be missed? That's a tough question, and I don't think I could pick out a single answer, but a reasonable facsimile of a quintessential Chicago experience can be had at most of the well-known restaurants in Greektown or at any of many home-style Italian joints, of which my favorite is La Fontanella at 24th and Oakley. Some friends recently brought their Frommer's guidebook to town, and I was surprised at how good many of the recommendations were--much better than the Frommer's recommendations from years past in Europe were.
