Dennis,

Yes, the family still owns Don Juan's and Pepa (Patrick's mother) is as charming as ever. Don Juan's is still as good as it always was.

While it is true that Patrick has his fingers in more than just Don Juan's pot he seems to be making it all work well. He has a chef de cuisine at both Fahrenheit and Don Juan's. He is also consulting at two other restaurants and they are opening up a branch of Don Juan's in St. Charles. We are semi-regulars at Don Juan's and have been to Fahrenheit twice, both are excellent.

Patrick seems to be on the road to becoming a "recognized" chef in Chicago, well deserved, I might add.

The only small hiccup we had at Fahrenheit was a crispy on the outside and raw on the inside sweetbread appetizer. Raw sweetbreads is not something I ever wish to bite into again, it may have put me off sweetbreads for quite a while.

There was a feature article about Patrick in the Sun Times Oct 6th food section, it is not available online, I checked.

Enjoy,
Gary
