Just finished up a take-out lunch from Dawaat, the Indian joint near Cabrini, off Wells, just east of the tracks on Oak or Chestnut--one of those. I've eaten in before, but it can get smoky, so today it was take out.

There doesn't seem to be much of a menu, but the food's all in steam trays along the counter, and the server explained what each one was. At his recommendation, I had a ground beef curry that had large chunks of potatoes in it--moderately spicy, very tasty. For a vegetarian dish, I had what he called lentils, but they were like no other lentils I'd ever had--more like grains of rice, almost, no sauce, but cooked in saffron or something that made 'em bright yellow.

I had both rice and a naan-type bread, and a delicious pistacio baklava for dessert. Total for all the above was $7.25, which included enough for lunch tomorrow.
