Since you offer no clues as to geographic preference, I'll mention that China Boat, on Roosevelt in Glen Ellyn, has the best buffet (weekday lunch only) I've had in years. Modest variety of selections, but much more interesting/tasty than usual. Beijing, about a mile further west, used to have a nice buffet; likewise not a huge range of choices, but as at China Boat made in a real restaurant kitchen, not one geared to churning out cheap fodder. Even better, they used to do a Sunday brunch, but I'm pretty sure they dropped that quite a while ago. Haven't been to Beijing for either buffet in years now.

Hmmm, the dinner deal at Kahala Terrace might have been as good, but I haven't been there in most of a decade, don't even know if they're still in business. Was the "luau" only available certain days? I think so...Chicago, IL
