Cafe de Casa

Today, I discovered a wonderful place to have lunch downtown, at 400 N. State Street. It's called Cafe de Casa, it's been open about 6 weeks. I had a wonderful chicken focaccia sandwich, with tomato and cheese, everything grilled to perfection, creamy cole slaw made just the way I like it, delicious, hearty home-made chicken noodle soup and a perfect raspberry latte as my beverage/dessert.

The atmosphere is quiet but friendly, with interesting artwork on the brick walls, everything is obviously home-made and of high quality, it's a great place to get away and have lunch without feeling rushed or harried.

Cafe de Casa is owned by a father and son who work the place along with their staff... it's definitely no McCharbucks. They even had a stack of 20% off coupons good for your entire lunch purchase on the counter, and they allowed me to pick one up right there and use it on that visit. Prices are quite reasonable, especially for downtown. It's just a few steps and a lifestyle away from Gold Coast Dogs.

I highly recommend this new cafe for lunch or for your favorite coffee or espresso drink.
