I recommend:

1) Margie's at Armitage & Western, reminiscent of the old Dove's at 60th and Pulaski... Margie's survives, Doves was closed years ago...

2) Ben & Jerry's at Armitage & Sedgwick

3) Does Buffalo Bill's still exist on Irving near Pulaski?

Our favorite has been Peterson's on Chicago Avenue near Harlem in Oak Park. The hot fudge sundaes are excellent and the sodas very tasty.
