Tango Sur on Southport, just north of the Music Box Theatre. They usually run a small ad in New City's Chow section.

Excellent restaurant, reasonable prices - no reservations, so get there early. (they may take reservations for groups, we've been there a few times when there were tables set up for wedding or graduation family groups of 10 or so)

And right next door is the grocery store they run. Scanty on fresh baked goods, although they have some cookies and other pastry-type stuff. You can buy Argentinian beef to cook at home, as well as lots of packaged goods.

Check their hours, the store closes pretty early, the restaurant keeps normal restaurant hours. (It's also BYOB, so pick up a nice Argentinian wine to go with that steak!)

From the Reader Restuarant Guide:

Tango Sur
3763 N. Southport Ave., Chicago, (773) 477-5466.
Latin American, Steaks/Lobster. Dinner: seven days. Open late: Every night till 11:30.

Like most Argentine restaurants, Tango Sur is for meat lovers. One Rater testifies, "I don't eat big portions of meat very often, but when I do, this is the best place for it I know." Another exclaims, "They gave me the largest damn piece of veal I have ever seen in my life!" Chicken, salads, pastas, and of course empanadas also appear on the menu. Situated at the north end of the Southport strip, this is a casual, intimate, bistro-style place. Outdoor seating can be cramped and is probably better for afternoon and early evening dining. BYO if you plan to imbibe.
