Shan is very good. Here is another similar recommendation:

Ghareeb Nawaz, on Devon (1 bl west of Damen)

The menu is friendly to single diners: plates with one paratha and small portion of a dish are $2 - 2.50 . Lots of non-beg items: an unusual one is Gyros Boti, which appears to be gyros meat cooked in spicy Indian style. Vegetarians can count on at least mixed vegetables and dal; usually there are one or two other entries too.

Please try it and post a review!

I've been there once, I think you recommended it to me before.

It's a great place. Large portions, tasty, clean, and inexpensive. It's one of the first places where I have noticed everyone eating with their hands. So much so that I felt weird using utensils. When I eat a lamb shank I really do prefer to use a fork.

I'd go back in a jiffy!
