Well, I'll give this a shot...there a *lot* of good places to eat on Oahu.

Ruth's Chris Steak House Restaurant Row, 500 Ala Moana Blvd. (808) 599-3860

*Excellent* steak, upscale, slightly pricey, about $75.00 a head complete.

Ryan's Parkplace Ward Centre, 1200 Ala Moana Blvd. (808) 523-9132

There food is good, they have the largest selection of beer on-tap of any restaurant on Oahu. Moderately priced, $25.00 a head or so. In particular, try the Jamacian Chicken and the aged steak! The steak is only second to Ruth's Chris in my opinion. I eat at Ryan's on a regular basis.

Alpine Village 2700 South King St.
(808) 949-8889

This is the place if you like German food.

Phillip Paolo's 2312 South Beretania St. (808) 946-1163

Italian food supreme. This place is *great*. It's off the beaten path. I recommend you catch a cab in order to find this place with ease.

John Dominis Kewalo Basin, 43 Ahui St. (808) 523-0955

Excellent Seafood. Prices are slightly high, but it's worth it. This place is also off the beaten path and a cab would be helpful.

Well, that's about it for the moment. All off the above mentioned places are a hop and a skip from Waikiki. Aloha!

Where should you drink? (this is a better question)

The answer is at LION COFFEE, on Queen Street in Honolulu. There are great restaurants all over the world but only a few places you can get such great KONA. They gave us samples of fresh-brewed Kona-Macadamia out in their driveway. I took home over 20 pounds of beans (the drug dogs at Dulles gave me a funny look) in my duffle bag. We still mail order their coffee on a regular basis.

Another not-to-miss is the Lieperts` Ice Cream shops....THE flavor is COCO-MAC-FUDGE (coconut, macadamia, and fudge swirl).

Have fun, Ellie

For straight coffee, 100% Kona, I think Bong Brothers on the Big Island is a much better buy and much better on mail order. I could only find Lion in Kona Blend (+ flavors) which is relaly only 10% or so Kona.
