I recently visited Savannah, Georgia for the first time, and I must say that lunch at Mrs. Wilkes' Boarding House was a highlight of the trip. We waited outside on the sidewalk for almost an hour to be seated at one of 6 big tables of 10 for a low country feast served family style. You end up seated with the folks you stood in line with, and you're no longer strangers after the waiting. It was a cultural experience I've never experienced before. And the food was great! After taking my dishes to the kitchen, I bought a cookbook, and Mrs. Wilkes signed it in person. Has anyone out there been there before? If so, has it changed much since you were there. I understand Mrs. Wilkes is an institution. Allison From [email removed] Wed Apr 15 08:22:51 EDT 1998 Article: 38890 of rec.food.restaurants
