Good Food in Atlanta GA?

I don't overly like Asian so I can't help you there. However for seafood, on the north side of town there is The Embers. It's just off Roswell Road about a half-mile north of I-285. I guess mostly it depends on what part of town you'll be in.

They do not take reservations, so as someone else said in a reply here (regarding a different restaurant), get there by 7pm (or earlier) or wait. -- Bill [email removed]
The Buckhead Diner in Buckhead is as good as it gets anywhere! Someone wrote: : Does anyone know of some really good restaurants in Atlanta GA? A little sampler: Southern: Paschal's: On MLK, great soul food. MLK, Andy Young, politicians used to hang out here. Deacon's Grill: On Edgewood. Great fried chicken. Avoid Pittypat's Porch: Overpriced, overhyped, faux southern food. Mary Mac's: The original owner is back at it, so it is supposed to be back to being its old self. Steaks: Long Horn: Many locations, my favorite is the one in Midtown on Peachtree. Pan fried steaks. Local favorites: The Peasant chain: includes all the restaurants with Peasant in the name, Dailey's, City Grill, Mick's. Always good food with varying price ranges for different restaurants. City Grill is the most expensive. Kudzu Cafe: Right in the middle of midtown, you can smell the hormones from the a mile away. Neuveau southern. yes you will find fried green tomatoes here. African: African Brown Bag: On Ponce, next to the old Sears building. Very different, but very good. Chinese: Pong Mai: Chinese korean, my favorite place. Lots of food for very little money. Try the pot stickers. Chinatown mall food court: A cornucopia of chinese/vietnamese food. On New Peachtree road between Buford highway and Peachtree Industrial. Japanese: August moon: Most reasonably priced japanese. On Buford highway, just north of I-285. Seafood: Savannah Seafood Co. Very good, very expensive. First floor of the Peachtree Plaza. Italian: Lombardi's: Underground Atlanta. Priccis: Ditto. If you have a car and some time, try the Dekalb Farmer's Market. It is in Decatur. You won't regret it. BBQ: Auburn Ave. Rib Shack: Auburn Ave and I-75/85. To die for. Pete Wung PhDEE '93 Ga Tech.

As the original poster of this question I'de like to add one more discovery to the list: The Atlanta Fish Market on Pharr Rd. The food is excellent, including a real nice set of appatizers and an excellent selection of fresh fish. A bit pricey but its the first really good seafood I've had since I've moved from Boston. later
