Bad news for you Richard- Brew pubs are still illegal in Georgia. Of course, now that Mr. Liberal, Newt Gingrich, is in charge of the Congress, all that will change....

As far as restaurants go, there are several I recommend. For overall quality and value, check out Georgia Grill (404) 352-3517 (try the pork fajitas). For a truly unique experience, try the Buckhead Diner (world famous and featured in many of Coke's commercials (404)262-3336. If you want a nice quiet romantic evening with outstanding food and service, try Bacchanalia (404)365-0410. And one of my favorites is Azalea (404) 237-9939. All are expensive except the first, but if you want to splurge...

Never been to the Bridgetown Grill.

Crowne Plaza Holiday Inn is next to the Perimeter Mall. Get on the road perp. to I285 and follow it until you hit Peachtree street, about 2 miles. Turn right on Peachtree and follow it for another mile or two and it is on your right. Truly a shopper's paradise.

The Peasant chain is quite popular in Atlanta. They have numerous different restaurants: Peasant (Country Peasant, Pleasant Peasant, Peasant Uptown, etc.) Bistro foods.

Micks: American diner food. Great Oreo cheesecakes.

City Grill: Upscale grilled steaks and chops.

Daily's: Kind of like the Peasants but I like it better.

Trios: Well it used to be Trio's a long time ago, but I have forgotten the new name. Very chic, very trendy. Last time I ate there the food was excellent but the presentation was a tad intimidating.

Linda,

If you like Indian food, try Raja at 2919 Peachtree Road, 404/237-2661; the bryani is exceptional and the prices very reasonable. The spinach/potato concoction is also excellent if you enjoy strong flavors.

For gourmet Mexican, try La Paz on Roswell Road, ~2 miles north of I-285; it is on the left & easy to miss; look for the big green sign with the red chili pepper.

Atlanta had two restaurants in Esquire magazine's "Best New Restaurants of '94". Those were: The Horseradish Grill, 4320 Powers Ferry Road, 404/255-7277; and The Atlanta Fish Market, 265 Pharr Road, 404/262-3165. If you try either of these, please give me a review; they have both opened since I have been in Atlanta.

Actually, I was really underwhelmed by the Fish Market on both occasions that I went there. The service was inattentive, the fish (bluefish one time, a salmon dish the next) was overcooked, the vegetable sides were boring.
