Probably the best view/most romantic restaurant in Paris is the Tour d'Argent, which, if you get a window seat, has a fantastic view of the Seine and Notre Dame. Unfortunately, the food is not that great, though if you stick with the classics such as duck you can get a decent meal. If ambience is your only consideration, I'd recommend that one. Also, you must ensure that you get a window seat. However, for a combination of food and ambience, I'd recommend Robuchon, Joel Robuchon's new restaurant in a fantastic, 17th-century townhouse on the right bank. The food is spectacular, but a meal for two will set you back about 500 bucks. This restaurant, however, requires reservations several months in advance. I've never had any luck making them myself, and always get my French friends to do it for me (there's a bit of chauvinism in the restaurant, I guess). Planning ahead is essential. A bit cheaper, but with classic ambience and excellent food, is the Grand Vefour by the Palais Royal near the Louvre. All of the three-star restaurants in Paris require reservations well in advance, but the Grand Vefour (a two-star, I believe) is a bit more accessible. For any of these, I'd fax or call them well before leaving (the fax and phone numbers are in the red Guide Michelin, which should be available in any good travel bookstore). Romanic Dinner in Paris

Therefore, price will not be an important factor. We > just want it to be as enjoyable and memorable an evening as we can make > it. Two restaurants with great views come to mind. First, La Tour d'Argent. It is located on the Left Bank and has a wonderful view of Notre Dame which is illuminated at night. You can dine on duck (their specialty) and look out on the flying buttresses of Notre Dame. My second suggestion for a dinner with a view would be "Jules Verne (sp?)." This is the restaurant on the Eiffel Tower. You first check-in at a table at the bottom of the Tower. Then you are allowed to bypass all of the tourists waiting for the elevator to the levels above. Almost all of the famous monuments in Paris are illuminated, and the view from the restaurant is fabulous. Both of these restaurants are expensive, and there are better gastronomic experiences at other Parisian restaurants. However, IMHO, the food is very, very, good, and the views are unbeatable. The service at both restaurants are top-notch. I don't know if you are aware that in most restaurants in France and Italy, pets are as welcome as the paying customer. When my wife and I dine at La Tour d'Argent, a couple brought their Irish Setter. He sat under the table, very well behaved, and the waiter brought him a dish of water. Also, if you do decide to dine at either one of these, reservations are a must. Reserve now!! Have a wonderful time and congratulations. It sounds like a wonderful way to spend your silver anniversary. My wife and I are approaching our 20th anniversary in a year. anniversary. Does anyone know of an especially romantic restaurant that would be fitting for this occasion? For example, is there some place that has a great view and a great ambiance as well?
Congrats on the 25th anniversary. We celebrated ours last year (in Venice!) Paris is a great choice and i concur with all the other folks who recommended Jules Verne. Great place Stunning decor, Pretty good food, View can't be beat. BUT you MUST reserve as soon as you know the date. it is real important. Then you MUST reconfirm or they will cancel the reserve. Have fun

If the money doesn't run out, why not lunch at L'Ambroisie & dinner at Jules Verne? From [email removed] Sun Sep 17 00:36:11 EDT 1995 Article: 19326 of rec.food.restaurants
