I also recommend reading her Food Lover's Guide to Paris, although as it's not revised yearly, beware that restaurants come and go and that quality comes and goes in restaurants as well. The Michelin red guide is as reliable a source of recommendation as any. Unfortuantely the only have a listing of approved restaurants with one, two or three stars for the truly remarkable ones. They do give prices and some idea of the luxury (and thereby dress expected) but there is no real description of the food or atmosphere. I've always consulted the GualtMillau guide, but find the level of French needed to understand the comments is a bit beyond my comprehension at times. They can be all too clever and the irony escapes me. I also sense they are in a period of flux and may not be as reliable. In the past they were no more reliable than Michelin, perhaps even less, but they were quicker to demote or reward chefs and reputations.

Paris Restaurant suggestions
Monte Bello right next to Notre Dame is the most romantic and affordable restaurant I've found. Its wonderful! The food is awesome! D.
