Well, since we're being so outdoorsy:

My dad's fresh caught trout, pan-fried and eaten like corn-on-the-cob while standing around the campstove.

Sitting on a rocky beach on one of those rare sunny days on the Northern California coast eating homemade sushi with abalone, various rockfish and sea urchin roe. Roll your own. Sleepy from the warmth and from paddling the kayak to collect whatever my dad brought up.

Also, D'Chez Eux in Paris, our only fancy meal while in the city: pan-fried salmon with a crisp salty crust, and then the dessert chariot! fraise des bois, mousse au chocolat, creme fraiche and french vanilla ice cream, various fruit macerated in liquers, and those candied fruits.

And Taverne Des Remparts (sp?) on the top of the hill in Beynac -- 6 courses for 135 ffr ($27): white bread and garlic soup (can't remember the name), smoked salmon with toast points, salmon in pappilote, simple salad (this is where I gave up), warm goat cheese on greens, sprinkled with walnuts and drizzled with walnut oil, glace citron for me, tarte au pruneaux for him. And then the walk down the hill over ancient cobbled streets, dimly lit by the moon to our hotel.
