Yen Yen Restaurant Review

The following is an exerpt of a
review as written by author and
culinary food critic and a native
Central Floridian On Yen Yen
Restaurant.

My Family and I discovered a
delightful restaurant in Cocoa
Beach. It's worth the trip from
anywhere.

The interior combines the rich
woods and colors of a traditional
English establishment with
Chinese accents. The decor befits
Yen Yen's Hong Kong heritage.
Similarly, the cuisine is a
mixture
of several upscale chinese styles.

This is not a "noodles in a bowl"
Cantonese restaurant with lots of
chow mein and chop suey. The
entrees featured are mostly of
Szechuan, Mandarin and Hunan
heritage. A full bar is available
and a fairly impressive wine list
compliments the extensive 12
page, full-course, a la carte
menu.

My family shares, so I can
recommend any of the items I
sampled which included several
of
the soups and salads, a variety
of
excellent fresh seafood, beef,
pork,
chicken and duck. I particularly
enjoyed the Curried Chicken
Puffs,
Sizzling Pork and Snow White
Prawns.

Prices are reasonalblefamily
oriented with several children's
meals under five dollars and
many
adult entrees under ten.

HIGHEST RANKING OF FOUR

Yen Yen, Cocoa Beach: Get ready
for
a culinary adventure. Yen Yen is
unlike any othe Chinese
restaurant
in the area. Elegant is the word
for
it. The restaurant is beautiful
with rich marble, rich woods,
Chinese vases and dripping
chandeliers. The interior is
inviting. Deep booths covered in
linens run around the upper
level
of the restaurant with tables on
the
lower level. The food is unlike
any
other in the area. You won't find
the usual egg foo young, chop
suey
or chow mein. You will find
large
selections of seafood, chicken,
beef, duck and pork- each
prepared in a new and unique
way.
I ordered the snow white
prawns,
which are flour dusted and pan
fried on both sides and served
with
a low fat cream sauce and sesame
seeds. The menu says it a dish
you
can't afford to miss. I agree, this
was the best shrimp that I have
ever eaten. No kidding, after 30
years in Florida, this was the
best.
The sauce was super light and
flavorful, and the shrimp were
cooked to perfection.
