This will be a little too far south I fear. In St Petersburg there is a nice Jamacian place called Safron. Owned by Jamacians and the food is good. A little too tamed down though, for "average" Amercian tastes I guess. Theres also a great place about 1'st ave N and 31'st st. Name escapes me and its a bit of a dive. Great food. Be careful about going there alone at night.
