The Columbia restaurant is in Ybor City, just outside of Tampa. This is a Cuban influence area -- and is a hot spot for night time activities (dancing & partying). You'll find Ybor right off of I-4 on your way to Tampa from Orlando.

North of Orlando (Maitland, I think) is Enrico's on the Lake. This is in an old Spanish Florida Home converted to a restaurant. As the name implies it is on a lake. The rooms have 3 to 5 tables per room. The food is wonderful, as are the wines.

In Tampa is Bern's Steakhouse -- world reknowned. the wine list is about the size of "Gone with the Wind." You have to make separate reservations for the desert room upstairs. You can't come to Tampa and not go to Bern's. If you just want desert go down the street to "SideBerns."

For seafood in Tampa go to Oystercatchers on Rocky Point Drive. This overlooks Tampa Bay and is a wonderful place.

If you like Greek food go across the Bay and north to Tarpon Springs. Visit the sponge docks and eat Moussaka to your heart's content.

Have fun!

Years ago, a Spanish-speaking native of Tampa told us that the best Spanish restaurant was Blanco's. It was very unpretentious but the food was wonderful. I don't know if it's still there; it wasn't in the tourist area, either, but if it's still around, it should be in the yellow pages.

My favorite "attraction" in the Orlando area is the Bok Tower (about an hour's drive south).
