Amelia Island, Florida
I worked at Amelia Island Plantion for 2 years. Haven't been back since '96 so this info may be a little out of date. Of all the restaurants in Fernandina Beach the only one I would recommend for dinner would be Beech Street Grill. You may get a good meal at any number of restaurants in town but its hit or miss. BSG is the only one that was known for its consistancy. For lunch, KP's deli on Sadler Rd. Try the pork with Swahili sauce. I have no idea what's in that sauce but man is it good. There used to be a place called Island Cafe, I think it was in the Wal-Mart shopping center, that was owned by someone connected to the Ritz and that was a good place for lunch. All questions, comments, and flames welcome. John

They are great with sea food. The chef was supposed to have come from Legal Sea Food in Boston. Also in Fernandina Beach is a B&B/restaurant called the Florida House. It is very reasonable. They serve family style, and you can get a selection of fried chicken, tomato and lima beans, okra gumbo, mashed potatoes and gravy, pudding, pie, and all the sweet tea you could ask for. The Ritz does have a great dining room. When we went there, about 5 years ago, they had a 5 course custom meal. One of the Sous Chefs came out to interview us on the types of food we like, seasonings, etc., and he responded with a meal designed expressly for us. I like wild game and "heavy", i.e., oily seafood. Some of the entrees included bison filet, sea bass, and mackerel. By the way, I think that I heard that the Ritz had been bought out by the Marriott. Don't know if this is true, or if it has had an effect on the dining room. Have fun on your trip.
