I went to a restaurant right behind the museum that had been mentioned in enough guidebooks for me to dread it, but the food was so good that we ate there four times in ten days. Not too expensive, casual, etc. The name was Falfela, or something like that. In general, I found that if you stayed out of the hotels, the food was terrific. Restaurants in Cairo Egypt?
The most popular place among visitors is probably Filfila«s, which is pretty close to the Cairo Museum, where they keep the Tutankhamen stuff. "Filfil" in Arabic just means "pepper". You«ll meet tourists and locals, the menu is more interesting than most places (eating out in Egypt can be a drag sometimes) and prices are not so bad.
Ask directions once you«re in the square in front of the Museum.
