I am a resident of New Jersey, but I go to school in Wilmington,
De and I would like to share with you some of the highlights of my dining experiences here in Wilmington.
The best place in the entire city for a hot, delectable hot dog
is Deerhead Hot Dogs, on Lancaster Ave. You can order a cheese dog - a single, or a double for the heartier of asppetite - that will satisfy any cheese dog lover beyond mere content. My mouth is watering at the thought of it. Of course, one can follow the traditional route of a plain dog with relish, ketchup, pickles, mustard, etc. I do not recommend this. I recommend, with a guarantee of personal delight, the Single or the Double with Everything. It has a special, secret sauce that has puzzled me for years. It is incredible. I recognize onions, mustard, and horseradish, but the rest is simply a pleasant mystery.
For exquisite Italian dining, one must venture to Union Street
to discover the finest Italian dining at the most reasonable of prices at Mrs. Robino's. I normally get the chicken or veal parmagiana, but the raviolis are also wonderful. As was the case with the Everything Dog, the special sauce at Mrs. R's makes it worth the trip.
My favorite Mexican eatery is, unquestionably, La Tolteca, on
Rt.202. Some of my friends complain that there was too much food. That alone should sell the place to you! Mounds of Chimichanga, (Beef or Chicken) an Enchilada Grande, you simply can't go wrong!! The best part of the whole excursion, however, is the chicken nachos; an absolute must! The cheese is very sharp, and the chicken succulent. A masterpiece in Mexican dining.
To conclude, Beijing Restaurant, formerly Ming Gardens, is the
primo place for excellent Chinese food. I recommend the egg rolls and skewered beef for appetizers, with the Lake Tung Shrimp for the entree.
