Boulder, CO
Will be in Boulder CO

Is there a law against that? :-) I remembered another cheap all-you-can-eat pasta place. It's a little place called Geppetto's Pasta on Folsom just north of the intersection of Folsom and Valmont. There's a 7-11 next door. I'm pretty sure they have all you can eat pasta Monday-Thursday. The food is quite good and very cheap. Pasta Jay's on Pearl St about 1.5 blocks west of the Pearl St Mall also has all you can eat pasta. Something different every day. I think Thursday is spaghetti with marinara sauce. Costs a little more than Geppetto's and quite impossible to get into at times. Extremely popular. Heavy use of garlic. They have a great patio.

This restaurant is the ONLY thing that I miss about living
in Boulder. I keep waiting for it to go downhill, lose it's
motivation to be excellent in light of it's success, etc...
But, I just went there this last weekend, and it's still
the greatest breakfast on the planet. God how I love those
biscuits and those grits and those red beans and the eggplant
and the beignets and the au laits and......
: Pasta places:
: Expensive: Cafe Antica Roma
I also love Laudisio over on the corner of the Diagonal and
28th. Great food. I *don't* care for Atusso's. Crummy service,
crummy attitudes, sketchy food.

Not a restaurant, but IMHO, the best place to people watch and meet others in the city. Leigh

It's called the Flagstaff House and it blows. Try John's or
European Cafe instead. Unless you *want* to pay $8.50 for a bibb
lettuce salad with 3 spears of asparagus.

Here's my current file on Boulder restaurants. Boulder is a very good place to eat. Restaurants we have tried in and around Boulder in the last four years. I only include places that are still open. Walnut Brewery - on Walnut St downtown. If you spend $20 a person, you'll roll out of here. The appetizers and desserts are big. The entrees are very tasty and range in price from pub food around $7 to full dinners around $12-14. Wine? Are you kidding this is a brewpub! And the beer is great. Fairly cheap - $12-15 per person Sawadee - Pearl St Mall at 14th. Excellent Thai food with a strong emphasis on vegetarian. Bangkok Cuisine - 13th between Spruce and Pearl. More great Thai Siamese Plate - Folsom just north of Arapahoe. Yet another excellent Thai restaurant. Da'Napoli - Walnut just north of 9th. Very tasty Italian. Fairly new. Himilayas - 14th between Pearl and Spruce, downstairs (look for the Boulder Theater). Indian and Nepalese food. Excellent. Yummy, yummy, yummy. Cheers - Diagonal Shopping Center at Iris and 28th, next door to Albertson's. Good Chinese and Vietmanese. Market Grill - Alpine at Broadway, next door to Ideal Market. Nice neighborhood restaurant with good menu and wine list. Nice patio. Zolo Grill - The Village, on Arapahoe. Fairly new. Menu is combination of southwest and southern elements. Decandent desserts. Cheap - anywhere from $7-12 per person Narayan - Pearl St just east of 9th. Nepalese. Similar to Indian. Really cheap and lots of food. Everything is tasty though somewhat more rustic than typical Indian food. Senor Migeul's - 28th south of Valmont (almost next door to Chez Thuy). Good basic Mexican food and quite cheap. Rio Grande - Pearl and 17th or so. The most popular Mexican restaurant. Ridiculously popular in fact. Just moved to a larger space and still totally packed. Tasty but not an extensive menu. The margaritas are the best in town. Juanita's - Pearl just west of 11th. Good Mexican. Don't like it as much as Rio Grande but a lot easier to get a table. Pasta Jay's - Pearl St just east of 9th. Heavy on the garlic. Very popular. The second toughest table in town (after Rio Grande). Nice patio. Hungry Toad - Broadway, a block south of Alpine (don't know the street name). My vote for best burger in Boulder. English pub style. Will soon be opening a second location in the old Rio Grande location on Pearl. Ras Kassa's - Hwy 93 and Elorado Springs Rd, south of Boulder near Marshall. Ethiopian food and it sure is good. Very small place so often tough to get a table. If it was easier to get into, I'd eat here a lot more often.

And the prices are not absurd. If you stick to the dinner menu and avoid the ala carte extras (except dessert, of course!) the prices are reasonable for what you get. The food is very, very good. You won't leave hungry. Not quite as stuck on being nouvelle like the European Cafe. The game selection at the Flagstaff is usually very good. The wine list is stellar but not cheap. On the other hand, you are paying for them to hold on to the wine for a while in many cases so it's not going to be cheap. They do have more reasonable selections on the list too.
