Recommendations for Denver and Colorado Springs

Re: breakfast -
Denver has a lot of breakfast places open from 6AM - 2PM. One that comes to mind is called Dozens. I think it's around 13th and Cherokee (downtown). They specialize in egg dishes, and have a lot of baked goods, too. I think there's another Dozens in Aurora.

Re: ribs -
IMHO, Denver isn't much of a rib town. There used to be a place there called Daddy Bruce's. It was in a slum, but the food was great. Since it closed in '93, I haven't found ribs I like. Denver has a number of barbeque chains - most prominent is Bennett's Pit BBQ (it's OK, I guess). There's a place called Zeb's in the Springs that has BBQ baby back pork ribs that are pretty good. I don't think they serve lunch, though.

Re: (family oriented) -
If you have younger children with you, and don't care if the food is mediocre, Casa Bonita might be worth a trip. You go there more for the spectacle. The restaurant is inside an old department store slot, I think, and has cliff divers, caverns, and a staged gunfight. The food is bland Mexican.

Another option for American family oriented is Gunther Toody's. This is a local chain of 3 50's-style diners, complete with soda fountain and blue plate specials. Prices are moderate. There's one in Aurora, and one in Arvada, I think. I don't know where the third one is.

Re: (family oriented) - Colorado Springs
There's a place in the Springs called Red Top. I think they have three locations now, but the old one is on Nevada Ave. They've been around since the 50's. Their reputation comes from the burgers - they're half-pounders, I think. The malts are good, too.

Have fun.
