There are quite a few good Mexican restaurants in town. My favorite is Las Delicias, 439 East 19th Avenue at Pennsylvania, 303-430-0422.

Daddy Bruce's Barbeque makes a mean hot links sandwich. (the place is kinda like Arthur Bryant's in some ways). 1629 Bruce Randolph (the same) Avenue at Gilpin. 303-295-9115

If you have a car, be sure to drive to the Walnut Brewery in Boulder (303-294-6411). The have wonderful beers and their tenderloin and burgers are great.

Denver suggestions:

Greens

On Colfax, just east of the capitol. Moderate. Vegetarian and other fresh "healthy" food.

Strings

17th? east of downtown. Expensive. Great Nouvelle American.

Chez Thoa

In Cherry Creek near the Tattered Cover. Expensive. Nouvelle Vietnamese.

For Vietnamese food, there's a Vietnamese shopping center with about three restaurants in it. South of 6th Avenue on Federal (sorry I can't be more specific about how far south it is; it's on the west side of Federal).

Pick up a free copy of Westword almost anywhere in town for lots and lots of reviews and ideas.

And my personal favourite, though quite pricey (worth every sou!): Cafe Giovanni on Market Street for an incredibly special evening out. Very innovative dishes from various cuisines, fabulous atmosphere, waiters who don't make you feel like you just fell off the turnip wagon, and just the *memory* of their desserts makes me weep.

While I agree wholeheartedly with your assessment of Chez Thoa, I regret to have to report that this restaurant has fallen prey to hard times, along with several other excellent Denver restaurants and closed some time in the last year. (Cafe Giovanni may be one of the others - anyone in Denver confirm or deny?)

There *are* some wonderful places left, happily. Mataam Fez, several blocks east of Colorado on Colfax, is still the best Moroccan that I've had, and I've been to several in the San Francisco bay area.

Also, a new Indian place downtown - between 14th and 15th on Blake, if I recall correctly - called Delhi Darbar is the best Indian restaurant I know. Wow.

Well, sorry about the recommendation for a non-existent restaurant (Chez Thoa). To make up for it, I'll recommend "Today's Gourmet Cafe" on 6th Ave (around Humboldt?). Call ahead for reservations; it's a small place.
