I think the Wellshire Inn in Denver has both a fireplace and, from some tables, a view of the mountains, though they're pretty far away. (Wellshire is on S. Colorado, I think, pretty near Hampden.) The food is just OK, I think, though many people rave about it.

Boulder, as far as I know, doesn't have a restaurant with a view of the mountains, though you *can* see the open space northward from the dining room of the Flagstaff House and there are foothills, at least. Many people have trashed Flagstaff House's kitchen recently, but if you're looking for the classics and good, professional service, they'd be about the best choice in Boulder.

I'm told that the restaurant at the Burnsley Hotel (10th and Grant, I think) is pretty cozy, but I've never been there. There is definitely no view of the mountains from there, though.

Hope this helps some.

I found Flagstaff to be first rate (food, excellent wine list, gorgeous view) for dinner last summer. In Denver, I've enjoyed most of the dishes I've tried at Barolo Grill (I think it's "Grill") -- interesting wine list too.
