Because the turnover rate of restaurants in Aspen is very high, I am not sure how many of the restaurants below still exist, as it's been two years since I have been there. Most of these are the least expensive restaurants in Aspen as I was a student then.

Red Onion
Su Casa
La Cocina
Woody Creek Tavern (in Woody Creek)
Krabloonik (in Snowmass, expensive)

There are many very expensive restaurants which as supposedly reasonably good, but don't expect Montreal-quality food there.

The Red Onion is still there (that's an Aspen institution, isn't it?). Another recommendation is The Grill at the Park or something like that. It's just off the pedestrian mall near the base of the ski area. It's in a little mustard colored house. We had lunch there in July. It was very good and reasonably priced. We particularly liked their Thai style pasta.

There are some ABSURDLY expensive restaurants in Aspen. I have never eaten in them. I am not absurdly wealthy, nor absurdly stupid. :-) I do remember that the Gabby Gourmet (a Denver restaurant critic) recommended a place called Mezzaluna, but I have not personally tried it. I don't think it was that expensive.

Really a bar with food - burgers are better at the Cooper Street Pier though the Red Onion does have watermellon shots...(not related to the Red Onion in So. Cal BTW).

Decent

Yuck. There used to be a place called Loretta's that was amazing until their cooks left. Now that space is the Flying Dog Brew-Pub.

Great food and local atmosphere. I always take guests there.

The Mother Lode is great at about $12-18 per entre. Annie's is cheap, bar-type food. the sushi place (forgot the name) is good too.
