We were in Vancouver a little over a year ago, and Lumiere was outstanding. Lumiere 2551 West Broadway 604.739.8185 It's not downtown, but was worth the trip for us. On the whole Vancouver seems to have good food.

Vancouver has some wonderful restaurants. Joe Forte's (seafood) is in the vicinity of the Hyatt. C (yes, just the letter C--also seafood) is excellent, but a little farther away. Rain City Grill (northwest style) isn't too far away. Both Bishop's (northwest style) and Vij's (Indian fusion) are in Kitsilano which isn't all that far from downtown. Lilligut is native American not too far from downtown. Hope that helps.

I forgot about Rain City Grill when I replied earlier. While not in Lumiere's league, Rain City Grille served us an exceptional lunch last year. A resident was surprised as he had heard it had gone down in quality. We loved it and hope it's still good.

Our favorite Burrard Street restaurant is Le Crocodile. Modern French, excellent cuisine and very reasonably priced. I have never tried an Italian restaurant there, anybody have a good one? -GC Patrick N. wrote:

I was in Vancouver in May for my honeymoon. For seafood at a reasonable price, Joe Cortes is good. If you really want to treat yourself and spend some $ go to Lumiere. It is a prix fixe menu with approx 6-8 small courses. They have a seafood dinner. This was one of the best dining experiences of my life, and I am a chef myself so take my word for it. Superb!!
