One that I REALLY loved (was there a year ago) is AUBERGE DE TRESOR...Wonderful dessert cart...good selection, tables near little flower box windows. It is right near the Funicular(spelling?) Wax museum etc.

Jean Kerrigan is absolutely right about the Auberge du Tresor. I've tried the veal with curry sauce, raisins and almonds; the salmon with a light but tasty citrus sauce; the feuillete d'agneau (lamb in a pastry) with wine sauce. Everything was delicious and served with a great variety of vegetables. You're right about the desserts too. Last year, I had the chocolate and pear mousse and I've been dreaming about it ever since. The Laurie Raphael, on Champlain street, has won an award claiming it to be Quebec's best restaurant. I agree. I got the owner's receipe for entrecote (beef) with roquefort, hazelnut and wine sauce. Exquisite. Word has it that Chez Nicolas has the best pasta in the country. Serge Bruyere is fine, especially during lunch (very inexpensive). Michelangelo is renowned but overrated, I think. When you pay that kind of money, your expectations rise, and you frequently end up a little bit disappointed. Auberge du Tresor and Laurie Raphael are much, much better. Finally, for salads you should try "le Bol Vert".
