It's central to downtown, but sort of cut off from it at the same time - kind of on a little island. Good to hear that you have a car > For breakfast, we are not looking for anything fancy -- quick and cheap will > do. For dinner, a family-friendly place would be nice. Original one is on Main St in Williamsville. Other locations are on Union Rd in Orchard Park and the newest on Niagara Falls Blvd. When we have company that wants to do breakfast, this is where we steer them. Heck we go there a lot ourselves. Most of the local diners do a decent job with breakfast as well - I've eaten at Altons (Walden Ave) & Gardenview (Union Rd). Both of these are about 10-15 minutes from the Adam's mark, while I would put the OPH about 20 minutes. Closer, there are probably a few places on Elmwood Ave, but I can't say I've been to any for breakfast. For beef on weck, Schwebls is pretty good. It's just off of Union Rd. My personal fav is a place called Charlie the Butcher - if I recall they have a satellite location someplace near the Adam's Mark, but I'm not sure where. > We like Chinese, Indian, Italian and Mexican, and we are especially > interested in having some good pizza. Staying in Buffalo, the Golden Duck (Sheridan Dr) is pretty good as is May Jen (Main St). The Main Moon buffet (Sheridan Dr) is pretty decent if you're looking for buffet style. Indian: Several good picks - none near your hotel. Taste of India is good, but will be a 20-30 minute drive for you. Same with Curry & Kebab. Italian: You aren't far from a Buffalo landmark - Chef's (Seneca St). From what you've described, this should fit your bill nicely Pizza: WNY has a HUGE number of great pizza places that are very inexpensive. Everybody has their own favorite. Take a trip down Elmwood Ave to Casa de Pizza. I think their pizza should fit your tastes. There's also a place on Chippewa & Pearl Sts called Prima Pizza. I remember the crust being a little thinner crust than what you're looking for I think, but otherwise good pizza. Certainly the closest place to your hotel. Mexican: Unless you desperate, don't bother. Grandma Mora's is the local favorite (Hertel Ave). It's a step up from the chain type places, but nothing to get excited about. If you find anything decent, let me know. I have a few other places on my web site http://www.nucmed.buffalo.edu/ed that might help if these don't suit the bill. > We will also spend 1 day on the Canadian side of the falls (Clifton Hill > area), so any other recommendations are appreciated. > Can't help much there... > Finally, are there any newsgroups devoted to this area of New York? > Newsgroups?
