Clair659 wrote about the steak house in the stables. The restaurant is "Gibby's" and is in Place d'Youville in Old Montreal. It is an institution for steak (try Moishe's on St. Laurent as well). Gibby's is on the expensive side but is worth it. For excellent smoked meat (this is more like NY corned beef--not the spongy Montreal smoked meat) try Schwartz's (on St. Laurent).
