I was in Banff last month and eat at a few restaurants I would suggest: There is a Fondue Restaurant called something like "The Bear" on the main street and it was my favorite. The unusual game (caribou especially) was excellent. Make reservations, take friends and plan on spending a whole evening! The Japanese restaurants are very good, I'd recommend an upstairs place (again no exact name) that is across the hall or downstairs from a chinese restaurant. It is on the side opposite from the high school and on that end of the main strip. Don't bother with a mexican place called Magpie and Stumpf. Not very tasty... In the Banff Springs Hotel is a small restaurant that is mostly a wine bar that serves a great pate plate for lunch. The other 5 or 6 restaurants are also good I've been told. While you are in Banff GO to the Hot Springs (about $5.00). They supply towels. I went when it was snowing, what a treat! Enjoy your visit.
