NNTP-Posting-Date: 16 Feb 2003 19:48:02 GMT Xref: usenet.INS.cwru.edu rec.food.restaurants:56912 We went to a new Persian restaurant for Valentine's Day: Yaas at 147 E. 3rd Avenue in San Mateo. The food was *excellent*. Between the three of us, we had the chello kebab koobideh (spiced ground beef), shish kebab (filet mignon) and the royal joojeh kebab (marinated chicken), along with the mast-o-khair (yogurt with cucumber and mint), the salad shirazi (chopped tomatoes, cucumbers and onions with their house dressing) and of course the saffron rice and flatbread. Every dish we ordered was absolute perfection. Our only complaint is that the restaurant appeared understaffed for such a busy night. Service was slow and we had to flag down a waitress to order additional drinks and again later for our check. This may be an anomaly, as after all it was Valentine's day and the place was *packed*. We were entertained as we waited by a lovely belly dancer, so can't complain too much! The ambience was very nice, too.
