The best fish and chips I've ever had were in Wales, both in Mumbles and in Llanfairpg. The next best I've ever had are in San Francisco, at a tiny (take out plus four small tables) fish and chips shop about two blocks north of Acorn Books on Polk Street. It's been run by an oriental family for at least the past eight years. They have a ten-foot long fish and chips fryer from -- of all places -- Wales, with a mural of Swansea Bay overhead. Excellent selection, great quality. -- Larry
