Well, receiving no answers to my question about the Vegetarian House on E. Santa Clara St in SJ, I decided to try it. (After all, I'd forgotten my lunch anyway.) The prices were medium range, the portion was HUGE, and I was very glad I'd ordered the MILD Thai Curry Soup.

It was a little too highly spiced for me to taste much other than hot, but I enjoyed what flavors I did notice. Some of the things I identified in it were roasted eggplant, fried tofu, carrots, spaghetti noodles (still al dente) and "mock meat". There were some veg I didn't recognize. The soup was very thick and filling. I liked it in general, but the mock meat gave me a turn. It felt unpleasantly real in texture. I have a bias against meat I can't identify (probably from eating in school cafeterias) so I just had to remind myself that it wasn't real.

I will probably try them again at some point. I'm curious about their wonton soup...
