There was a time when I ate at Tu-Lan (approximately Ten Sixth Street) as often as once a week. Unfortunately, that time's past. This evening I paid one of my now-rare visits. Had soup, salad, and squid in a curry sauce over steamed rice with those very hot peppers carefully set aside. I am not the one who, a few years ago in this Group, called Tu-Lan the best Viet-Namese restaurant in the world. I'm still not qualified to make such a statement. But it's probably the best in town and, since we have the world's best food, well . . . I cannot make the complaint that I so often do that the quantity of food was insufficient. I ate it all; it was just about a forkful more than enough. And, from a ten-dollar bill, I got change! If you have not eaten at this great restaurant, do so. But be sure the man who tries to conceal his balding pate is at the stove. His wife (I think) isn't as good as he.
