This reminds me . . .

A while back, I asked about finding Balti in the SF area and someone on this group sent me to Passage to India. I had been to Passage to India years ago, but it seems pretty different this time -- probably new owners.

It's now run by some folks from Britin. And, asside from a couple of types of Balti, there were other British-Indian staples on the menu; Chicken Tika Masala, and something else whose name escapes me (begins with an 'h', I think). The feel of the service definately reminded me of some of the places I visited in England; quite different from the usual South Bay Indian.

I enjoyed the food. Not great, but very tasty in a local place kind of way. And, again, a bit different from the usual places. Our waiter was keen to suggest the British-Indian dishes on the menu.

I have to say, that while I enjoyed the place, one of my dinning companions, who was from Indian, was particularly turned off by the place. Even before the food arrived, he was put off by the service. I don't think he appreciated the multiple layers of reference.
