Big Yellow (www.bigyellow.com) says that there are 283 restaurants in Sunnyvale. Most are (duh?) fast food, chains, coffee shops, take-out and strip mall diners. From that list, here are some of the *nice* restaurants in Sunnyvale on My List: Afghani House Restaurant 1103 E El Camino Real Sunnyvale, CA 94087-3758 (408-248-5087) I eat here one evening a month, with a group of friends. We are loud, obnoxious at times, we take forever to divvy up the bill, and the owner treats us like cousins. Excellent Kabobs. Chelokababi 1236 S Wolfe Rd Sunnyvale, CA 94086-8965 (408-737-1222) Have eaten here twice, once for dinner, once for lunch. We found it because it was written up in the Metro or Eye. It's quite a surprise considering the ratty exterior (run down strip mall atmosphere). Not very fancy, but nice, excellent service and food. We split meals both times so I have sampled at least 5 dishes and would gladly order any of them again. Faultline Brewing Co 1235 Oakmead Pkwy Sunnyvale, CA 94086-4040 (408-736-2739) One of 2 very fun Brew-Pubs in Sunnyvale. Careful with the menu. Get a window table and watch the ducks if you can. Gumba's Cafe Italian Restaurant & Pizzeria 176 S Murphy Ave Sunnyvale, CA 94086-6112 (408-737-8384) Previously mentioned. Great Lasagna and other pasta/sauce dishes. Kabul Afghan Cuisine 833 W El Camino Real Sunnyvale, CA 94087-1154 (408-245-4350) I have eaten at Kabul once, and enjoyed it, again good Kabobs (I like kabobs :-) Stoddard's Brewhouse & Eatery 111 S Murphy Ave Sunnyvale, CA 94086-6113 (408-733-7824) That other nice brew-pub. Great for sunday lunch (not toooo brunchy) and then stay for a while in the afternoon in the patio when the Reggae starts at 3, great beers and tunes way to laze away a Sunday. Here are a few I haven't tried, that sound interesting, any comments?
