Several weeks ago I asked for recommendations for restaurants in the
Disneyland area (I'll be there for a meeting next week). The general consensus seems to be "Don't expect too much!".
Thanks to all the respondents, and I'll let you know if I find any
hidden treasures!

I don't in that area too often. I certainly can't think of too many good places right in that area. There's a decent Acapulco (Americanized Mexican) on Harbour almost directly across from Disneyland's main entrance. If you take Ball Road east (towards the 57), there an El Torito and a Benihana just past State College. Charlie Brown's (kinda pricey prime rib) is located at Katella and State College. There's plenty of fast food.

The area immediately surrounding Disneyland is loaded with restaurants and is reasonably safe to walk around in (at least as far as I know). None of the restaurants are particularly spectacular though. There are the usual fast food outlets and "family" restaurant chains. The fancier and better restaurants tend to be at the larger, expensive hotels. The Pan Pacific Hotel, for example, has a fairly good Japanese restaurant (that hotel caters to Japanese tourists, so it has to be at least half way decent). The Hilton has some pretty good restaurants too.

Dear Peter,
Please bear with my ignorance of this text editor! I was born and raised four blocks from Disneyland, near Ball & Euclid, and I can warn you that Anaheim is *not* a cultural mecca.
Anyway - I suspect if there was a good restaurant in town, the tourist traps would hunt it down and kill it.
But I can recommend a wonderful Italian place, if you like that grenre of food. It is called Luigi's, and it's run by a man of the same name, a chef, and his family. Very good food at a very good price. I particulary recommend their seafood, esp. the calamari.
Directions from your hotel on S. Harbor:
Drive north on Harbor to Lincoln - Lincoln is the first major street past Broadway. You'll pass Ball, then Broadway, then Lincoln.
Turn Right on Lincoln; you'll eventually pass a shopping center on your right, then go under a pedestrian overpass overhead, then you will come to (I think) Anaheim Boulveard (spelling is due to lack of backspace, not idiocy). Across the intersection on the right, or on the NorthEast corner, there will be a Choc Thricft store; Luigi's is in that s center, back in the corner.
Whew! I aplogize for this messy message, but I hope it comes in handy.
