I posted a message on here a few months ago about where to eat in San Jose. I went to a conference there last week, and was extremely surprised at how run-down the area was aroung the convention center. First of all, Original Joes was horrible. I had Chicken Parmesan and my boss had Veal Parmesan. Both were below quality, lacking in true Italian flavor. This sentiment was echoed by others in the conference who also went there to eat. The Fairmont Hotel was very classy, good desserts at the "Fountain". I heard that the Hyatt Sainte Claire restaurant was very good also. Many of the downtown stores were boarded up or undergoing renovations so it wasn't a great place to get out and walk around. Very depressing. They are working towards upgrading downtown. Let's hope they are successful if they want it to attract both conventioneers and tourists. Celeste
