I pretty much agree with the "view" rule, but I think that the restaurant at the Casa Madrona is a good exception. The Casa Madrona (for the original poster's edification) is a B&B in Sausalito (an easy cab ride over the Golden Gate...as long as it's not rush hour). It sits right across from the harbor and the restaurant has a HUGE bay window that open up and captures the whole spectacular view of the harbor and San Francisco (yes, if there's no fog hiding it). The food is wonderful. We haven't been in a few years, but my husband recently sent someone there, and they said it was still great. I *highly* recommend it, for both the beautiful views and the good food (and also as one of the nicest places we've ever stayed at).
