Of those you listed, I really enjoy Pacific Grill (although I believe it closed in the last 2 months). Pacifica Cafe and the Pacifica in Del Mar are still open. California Cuisine can be quite good also and George's is also really nice. One of my personal favorites is the under-appreciated Banzai Cantina on India near Washington (From I-5). The chef is Mexican but grew up in Tokyo - so the foods are interesting blends of East and West. Prices are very reasonable although the attitude and decor of the restaurant is low key. I recently recommend Fios Cucino Italiano to a friend. She came back raving. I like this restaurant very much and the room itself is beautiful. Fios is in the gaslamp downtown. Thats my contribution, Tom

I heartily second this one. The food is as good as the *Pacificas* and a small step down from George's, but the prices are very reasonable. I remember their Scallop Ceviche and Ahi with Cilantro/Ginger butter as both being excellent. Mike
