Try Miss China in La Jolla Shores, San Diego: small place,
nicely decorated, outstanding Chinese food, some of which is unique
 to her menu.

You were most likely at Panda Inn, yes it is good. As another post pointed
out Miss China is excellent.. One of my other favorites is the Mandarin House
(La Jolla or Pacific Beach). Their imperial shrimp dish is excellent if
you like spicy shrimp with a lot of fresh ginger.

Steve is referring to a very attractive restaurant called 'Panda Inn'.
This is a sister restaurant to the one in Glendale / Pasadena. The food
is extremely good in my opinion and somewhat unconventional. I would also
like to recommend another Chinese restaurant in the Kearny Mesa area of
San Diego. Emerald is Hong Kong style with excellent dim sum at lunch and
early Sundays. Emerald is at the corner of Aero Drive and Convoy.
