I've a house at Stateline. Here are some of my suggestions: Lake Tahoe Restaurant Suggestions • WOLFDALE'S 640 North Lake Blvd. Tahoe City, CA 916-583-5700 ($$$) Tim Dale Dinner Daily - East-meets-west Calif/Japan - "Destination" restaurant, overlooks north Lake Tahoe. • EVAN'S AMERICAN GOURMET CAFE 536 Emerald Bay Road South Lake Tahoe, CA 916-542-1990 (R)(DD) Dinner M-Sat (Closed Sun) Cards/bar/Res. - Owner/chef: Evan & Candice Williams - Menu changes every six months, with daily specials. - Polenta with pheasant, winter squash soup, roast peppered-New-Zeland venison tenderloin with fiddlehead ferns and black-currant glaze. SF Chron "Travel" section 2/8/93 • SCOOZA (formerly, Scoozi!--until a law suit over name rights) 1142 Ski Run Blvd. P.O. Box 16984 South Lake Tahoe, CA 95706 916-542-0100 Good pastas, calamari. No bar. Wait in the bar across the street. • IZZY'S BURGER SPA Highway 50, near the "Y" on the CA side South Lake Tahoe, CA 95706 Great burgers, indoor and outdoor seating, BEER ON TAP. Try the nacho fries with jalapiños. LOCAL HANG-OUTS - Two popular 24-hour NV sports bars where the food is inexpensive, the gaming machines pay more liberally than the casinos, and the locals hang out. Both have daily food specials, full bar and draft beers. • THE THIRSTY DUCK - Just off Hwy. 50 near the traffic lights at Roundhill Shopping Center (1-1/2 mile north of the state line) Two daily/nightly happy hours, food specials, bar-b-cues and other free food promotions. • THE GOAL POST on Kingsbury Grade For a traditional breakfast and a good burger too, try: • THE RED WAFFLE HUT on Kingsbury Grade in NV. (NOT the one on Hwy 50 in CA. Both places are small and the food is comparable. But the Kingsbury location has smaller crowds, a paved parling lot, NV sales tax and a lake view.) Breakfast and lunch only. • South-Shore Casinos - Two spots: The SAGE ROOM at Harvey's for steaks and fine dining; Harrah's SUMMIT BUFFET for Sunday brunch. • NEVADA FAMILY-STYLE BASQUE - Overland Hotel 691 U.S. Highway 395 Gardnerville, NV (over the hill via Kingsbvry Grade from the Tahoe Basin) 702-782-2138 Lunch 12-2; dinner 5-9. Closed Mon. Vegetable or pasta soup, Basque beans and salad, stew, entree, garlic fries, wine, bread and butter--about $16.
