A little farther north (20-25 min) in Venice is Rebecca's a Mexican seafood place at Venice Blvd. & Pacific (213/306-6266) An LA version of Mexico on an acid trip. Great chips, wonderful Mexican seafood. Worth the visit just to see the interior. Be sure to check a map to avoid getting taken by a unscrupilous cabby. Better yet, find a limo driver who'll haul you both ways and wait for a reasonable fee. - Tom Ransom ----------------------------------------------------------------------- For my personal recommendations on where to eat in cities all over North America, check out <http://tripreport.com>

When a college classmate of my husband comes out for business once a year (he lives in DC area) we normally go to: Cozymel's Mexican Restaurant 2171 Rosecrans Blvd. El Segundo, CA 310-606-5464 Not the typical Mexican food, very flavorful and good. Even serve 1/2 chickens. Definitely close enough to be back to the airport in the time available. It is listed at 2.9 miles from LAX. Map available at: http://yp.infospace.com/info.go555/Busdetails;QI=17296018&CO=2&QD=yp2ad&BR=0&type=map Take Century Blvd. out of the airport going East then turn south Sepulveda Blvd. then continue South to Rosecrans and then turn East on Rosecransn to Cozymel's which is on a N/E corner of a cross street with Rosecrans. It seems per yahoo that they are owned by the same people that own Chili's, Macaroni Grill, On the Border and several other chain restaurants. The web site is http://www.Brinker.com/ Cozymel's site is at http://www.cozymels.com/ Example of menu available at http://www.cozymels.com/home.html Enjoy! Barbara Lull
If you go down to El Segundo (about 4 miles South of the airport), on Rosecrans Street, there's a place called Cozymels that is kinda decent funky Cal-Mex. I was there last week and had a nice lunch. In the same neighborhood is a Wolfgang Pucks (sigh), a Bristol Farms grocery, a Houstons (be patient--I've never had quick service there), and various and sundry etceteras. This would be a VERY short Cab ride, or you could try and persuade the hotel shuttle that goes down there (can't remember the hotel on Rosecrans--somebody wanna help) to drop you off. Have fun. Get out of the Airport! - Jon
